On March 10, 2016 Doris Harris passed on to be with God in the heavenly home he had waiting for her. She was 91 years old.
Doris was born in Myrtle Point, Oregon on Dec. 22, 1924 during a flood. She moved with her family to the Ontario area when she was 12. They settled on the Oregon Slope and started a dairy farm.
She met Edward Harris and after he returned from serving in WWII, they were married in May of 1946. They lived in Ontario, Moscow and Boise, Idaho. After Ed died in 1998, she returned to live in Ontario to be close to family.
Doris enjoyed sewing and made quilts for the family and all her grandchildren as high school graduation gifts for as long as she was able. She also liked crocheting. Her favorite things to crochet were bath mats. She also enjoyed reading.
Doris is survived by her three children: Ilena (Jim) Knott, Lynn (Lucy) Harris and David (Sue) Harris; 10 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; brothers: Don (Donna) Barklow, of Caldwell, ID, Wallace Barklow, of Ontario, and Ruth (Karen), of British Columbia, Canada; sisters: Loretta (Laurence) Bales, of Kennewick, WA, and Ruth (Jim) Hopkins, of Nampa; and many nieces and nephews.
Doris was preceded in death by her husband, Edward L. Harris; and sister-in-law, Marlene Barklow.
There will be a viewing on March 16, 2016 at Lienkaemper Chapel in Ontario 3-5 pm. A Memorial Service will be held Thursday at 10 am at Butte Baptist Church, with a meal to follow. Interment will be in Boise.
