Elton C. Smith, 62, died Thursday in his home in Lufkin, Texas. Elton was born in San Augustine to E.C. and Atrelle Bryant Smith. Elton grew up in Bronson, Texas, and graduated from West Sabine High School, before moving to Lufkin, Texas. Elton worked as a heavy equipment operator on several pipelines including the All American Pipeline, he was also a crane operator for Futch Sign & Crane Service in Lufkin and in charge of maintenance for Lufkin Property Management. He was known as always willing to help anyone in need.

Elton is survived by his sister Martha Kittman and husband Wally of Hemphill, his brothers; Joe Smith and wife Sally of Lufkin, Curtis Smith of Huntington, Glenn Smith of Bronson and Clint Smith and wife Sandra of Bronson. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Elton is preceded in death by his mother and father, E.C. and Atrelle Smith.

Visitation will be from 5:00PM until 8:00PM, Monday, March 14, 2016, in the Starr Funeral Home, 510 Starr ST., Hemphill, Texas. Funeral services will be at 1:00PM, Tuesday, March 15, 2016, in the Starr Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in the Bronson Cemetery, Bronson, Texas.
