Alfred "Bud L. Beam, 82, of Mansfield Township, NJ, passed away at home surrounded by his loving family. Born July 6, 1930 in Long Valley, NJ Bud was the son of the late Morris and Elsie Emmons, and has been a lifelong resident of the area.

He was the owner and operator of Bud Beam Excavating, Long Valley, NJ for over 50 years. Bud was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Hackettstown, NJ; former member of the Hackettstown Rotary Club; member of the "NEBO" Hunting Lodge of Pikes Co., PA; and previously served on the Mansfield Township Board of Education. Growing up as an athlete in football and baseball, he remained an avid golfer as an adult, and enjoyed playing with family and friends.

He is survived by, and was married to "the love of his life", Elizabeth "Betty", for over 60 years. He is also survived by three children and their spouses: Robin Travis and her husband James of Mansfield Twp; Marcie DiPaola and her husband Robert of Long Valley; and Randy Beam and his wife Kathy of Palmerton, PA. He and Betty were proud of their eight grandchildren: Brian Beam and his wife Teresa; Adam, Kiley, and Jamie Travis; Benjamin, Alexander, and Blake DiPaola; and Rebecca Beam. He was predeceased by his sister, Bernice Emmons. He enjoyed and spent endless hours with his daughters and their horses at shows, enjoyed passing on his love of sports to his grandchildren and enjoyed mentoring his son and grandchildren at work excavating during their summers.

Memorial Services will include visitation from 1:00 - 3:00 PM and a service at 3:00 PM on Saturday, January 5, 2013 at the Cochran Funeral Home, 905 High ST., Hackettstown, NJ. Interment will be private at the Union Cemetery, Hackettstown, NJ.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Trinity United Methodist Church, Hackettstown, NJ or the Mansfield Township Rescue Squad.
