Letha Maye Moore, 88, a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, left her earthly home, for her eternal home with God on Monday, Sept. 25, 2006.
Funeral services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 30, at New Birth Baptist Church with the Rev. Connice Mayes officiating. Interment follows in Restlawn Garden Cemetery under the direction of Maxey Funeral Home.
She was born July 6, 1918, one of eight children born to the parentage of the late Mack and Edna Morgan Baldwin. On Oct. 8, 1933, she married her best friend R.D. Moore and to this union 16 children were born. She confessed her life to Christ at an early age. She was a faithful and devoted member of New Salem Baptist Church where she was named "Church Mother." She served faithfully until her health began to fail.
She was preceded in death by her husband; one son, Earnest Moore; a daughter, Ruby Blackwell and six brothers.
She leaves to cherish her memories nine sons, Richard Moore, L.J. Moore, Vermont Moore and wife, Sheila, Lonnie Earl Moore and wife, Wanda, C.D. Moore, Eddie Paul Moore, Roy Gene Moore, David Moore, Jerry Moore and wife, Lou Ella; six daughters, Maye Hill and husband, Billy, Sandra King, Rebecca Sims, Emma Freeman and husband, Kenneth, Diane Johnson and husband, Donny; one brother, Mr. Lonnie Baldwin.
She is also survived by 92 grandchildren; 164 great-grandchildren; 39 great-great-grandchildren whom she loved dearly, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She will be missed by all who knew her.
