Michelle McCartney, 62, of Elyria, passed away at her home Monday, September 12, 2005, following a four year battle with lung cancer.

She was born October 18, 1942 in Long Beach, California and lived many places including Bermuda, Germany, Texas and Maine before settling in Lorain 38 years ago.

She was a member of the Christian Temple Disciples of Christ Church in Lorain. She was one of the original members of a cancer support group at the Ireland Cancer Center.

Mrs. McCartney enjoyed crocheting, ceramics and spending time with her children and grandchildren.

Survivors include her husband of 42 years, Dennis of Elyria; daughter, Roberta Mitchell of Elyria; Denise Woodward, Melissa Barker both of Lorain, son Dennis Michael McCartney of Oxford, Pennsylvania, 8 grandchildren, and sister, Pat (Hara) Mauceri of Reston, Virginia.

She was preceded in death by her step-father and mother Fred and Eve (nee Ano) Rainey, father, Robert Wellman, grandson Zachary in 2000 and sister Linda.

Friends may call Wednesday, September 14, 2005, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 at Schwartz, Spence, Boyer & Cool Home for Funerals at 1124 Fifth Street, Lorain, OH. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, September 15, 2005 in the funeral home. Pastor Bruce McCartney, nephew and pastor at Flint Hill Baptist Church in Bessemer, Alabama will officiate, assisted by Rev. Bradley J. Donahue, pastor of Christian Temple Disciples Of Christ.

Burial will follow at Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Lorain.
