Fr. Adam Engelhardt officiated. Pallbearers were Randy & Dennis Keller, Jason Marquart, Todd & Jeff Sorenson & Shane Werre. Helen Arnold was organist & the church choir provided the music. The Nelson Funeral Home of Esmond was in charge of arrangements.
Lena Marquart was born Oct. 22, 1896 in Odessa, Russia to Joe & Kathryn Lacher Setter. When she was 3 the family emigrated to Canada & a after short time moved to Zeeland. In 1904 the family moved to Strasburg, where she was educated. She married Balzer Marquart Oct. 15, 1923 at Strasburg. They lived at Strasburg for a time & then moved to a farm near Orrin. They moved to Esmond in 1934, where he operated a blacksmith shop. She worked more than 20 years for Jensen Evergreens in Esmond, hoeing, planting & burlaping trees. He died Dec. 6, 1955. She moved to the Maddock Memorial Home in 1990 & in 1994 entered the Heart of America Long Term Care Facility in Rugby.
She was a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church of Esmond, its Altar Society & the Christian Mothers.
Survivors include a daughter, Kathryn (Mrs. Adam) Keller of Turtle Lake; 4 sons & 2 daughters-in-law, Ben and Elizabeth Marquart of Esmond, Leo Marquart of Esmond, Joe and Darlene Marquart of Rolla & John Marquart of Williston; 17 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; & a brother, Jake Setter of Bismarck.
She was preceded in death by her husband; a son, Tony; a daughter, Victoria Sorenson; a grandson, John B. Marquart; 2 sisters, Walburga Bielger & Marthina Hilt; & a brother, Ralph Setter.
