Ruby Ione Manning, 89, passed away on Wednesday, March 9, 2016 at Jesup Health and Rehabilitation.

A native and lifelong resident of Wayne County, Ruby was born on June 21, 1926 to the late John Dizer and Lannie Keen Manning. She was a homemaker and master seamstress and was a member of Manningtown Presbyterian Church where she taught Sunday School. Ruby enjoyed reading and gardening in her spare time and was highly skilled at the art of embroidery. In addition to her parents, her husband, Lester Manning, her son Woodrow L. Manning, grandson, Clifton Mathis and two sons-in-law, Roland Mathis and Leroy Goss preceded her in death in addition to her brothers.

Survivors include two daughters, Lannie Mathis and Joyce Goss and one daughter-in-law, Shirley Manning all of Jesup; six grandchildren, Amy Peacock, Joe Mathis, Elizabeth Bennett, Stanley Mathis, Josh Goss and Jeremy Goss; nine great grandchildren, Tabitha Peacock, Katlynn McCartney, Zachary Peacock, Brittany Small, Cliff Bennett, Whitley Goss, Case Goss, Dustin Mathis and Carl Mathis; four step great grandchildren, Casey Lee Brant, Jamie Lane, Jodie Lane and T.J. Cady; and five great great grandchildren, Kyser Mathis, Jakob Mathis, Jayme McCartney, Aniston Swain and Ayden Small. Numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family members also survive.

Visitation will be from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Friday, March 11, 2016 at Howard & Jones Funeral Home in Jesup.

Funeral services will be at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 12, 2016 at Manningtown Presbyterian Church with Reverends Ida Welch, Hilton Morgan, Timothy Fulmer and Bill Harper officiating. The body will lie in state one hour prior to the services at the church.

Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

Active pallbearers will be Dustin Mathis, Carl Mathis, Josh Goss, Joe Mathis, Zachary Peacock and Walter Lee Manning.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Stanley Mathis, Jeremy Goss, Vernon Spradley, Jim Shipes, Alvin Manning, Justin Brissel, J.J. Brissel, Dexter Manning and the Adult Sunday School Class of Manningtown Church of God.
