Priscilla Lou "Patty" Mitchell, 69, Blountville, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, March 11, 2016, at her residence following her battle with cancer.

Patty was born on January 5, 1947 to H.R. (June) Rodefer and Mildred Kendrick Rodefer in the home of her maternal grandparents, Robert and Bessie Tallman Kendrick in rural Bristol, TN. She had been employed by Cox Transportation and Raytheon. Patty was a member of Adams Chapel United Methodist Church.

She was preceded in death by her father, H.R. Rodefer, Jr.; paternal grandparents, Herman and Nellie Mae Salyer Rodefer; and her maternal grandparents, Robert and Bessie Kendrick.

Patty is survived by her husband of 52 years, Gerald Mitchell; 2 sons, Jerry M. Mitchell and wife, Traci, Robert A. Mitchell, all of Blountville; 2 granddaughters who were the love and joy of her life, other than Jesus, Victoria "Tori" Mitchell and Taylor "Tay" Mitchell; mother, Mildred Kendrick Rodefer; sister, Cindy Rodefer Edwards and husband, Anthony of Bristol, TN; 3 aunts, Ruth Minnick, Elsie Shaffer and Edith Benfield; special niece, Megan Dumas; and special friends, Diana Evans and Barbara Lawson.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. on Sunday at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport. The funeral service will follow with Rev. Billy Byrd officiating.

Graveside services will be conducted at 4 p.m. on Tuesday at Johnson Cemetery. Those attending graveside services are asked to assemble at the graveside by 3:45 p.m.

Pallbearers will be Jerry Clark, Jimmy Doyle, John Maden, Terry Mitchell, Don Waterson, and Dwight Hunigan. Honorary Pallbearers will be Clara Townsend, Rev. Harry Booher, Eddie Booker, Jerry Kendrick, Charlie Davidson, Cecil Clark, George Potter, and Dave Berry.

In lieu of flowers, Patty asked that you make a contribution to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, P.O. Box 1000, Dept. 142, Memphis, TN 38101-9908, or to a children's hospital of your choice.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Smokey Mountain Hospice for the care they provided.
