December 17, 1960 - March 9, 2016

Laura Jean O’Neil Buck, 55, died Wednesday, March 9th at UIHC after a long and courageous battle with cancer.
Funeral Services will be at 10 AM Saturday, March 12th at St. Bernadette’s Catholic Church in West Branch with Father Gregory Steckel and Father Dennis Martin officiating. Visitation will be Friday from 5 to 8PM at Lensing Funeral & Cremation Service. A rosary will be recited at 4:30 PM. Burial will be at St. Joseph Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to the Hope Lodge or the Laura Buck Memorial Fund.
Laura was born December 17, 1960 in Iowa City, the daughter of Leo Patrick and Rose Marie Delaney O’Neil. She was a 1979 graduate of West Branch High School and the School of Cosmetology. On January 1, 1999 Laura married Norman “Butch” Buck
Laura was a cosmetologist in Iowa City and West Branch and most recently at Walden Place.
Laura had a love of the outdoors and animals. She loved to garden and horseback ride. Laura had a great sense of humor, was sassy, and was proud of her Irish heritage. Laura had immeasurable strength and a positive attitude. Most important to Laura was her family, especially her grandchildren for whom she loved to bake cookies.
Survivors include her loving husband Butch and her children, Jessica Zmolek of West Branch and Nicholas (Geovanna) Dean and their children Leo and Alexis of Cedar Rapids; step-children, Samantha and Christopher Buck; her siblings, Eileen (Art) De Armond of North Liberty, Peggy (Gary) Molback, Andy (Marsha) O’Neill, Nan (Kevin) Nerad, Steve (Jan) O’Neil, all of Iowa City, Tim (Teresa) O’Neil of West Branch, Leanne(Don) Rathjen of Atalissa, Julie O’Neil-King (George King) of Sandy, Utah and Barb (Mike) Carlson of Columbus, Junction; numerous nieces and nephews; mother-in-law, Kathryn Buck of Iowa City, and sister-in-law Debra (Eric) Meverdent of Ainsworth.
Laura was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Jerry and nephew, David Molback.
