Marion Thomas (Sonny) Shipman, age 75, passed from this life on Saturday, May 17th, 2014 in Tulsa.
He was a resident of Okmulgee, Oklahoma. He was a glass worker, retiring from Ball Brothers in 1990 after 28 years. Sonny attended Schulter Christian Assembly of God. Sonny enjoyed his church family and served in various roles throughout the years. He especially enjoyed working with youth.
He was born on August 15, 1938, the only son of Doy Aden Shipman and Letha (Love) Shipman. He loved his sisters, Douglas Winters, Betty Thomas and Dorlin Beene.
Sonny married his wife, Lola Shipman on January 14, 1974 in Bee Branch, AR His children from a previous marriage, Debbie, Ronnie and Doyle, welcomed Lola into the family. A few years later, Doy was born.
Survivors include his wife of the home, Lola Shipman, Debbie Ashing of Agra, Doyle Shipman and wife Kim of Agra, and Doy Shipman and wife Jennifer of Morris. Grandchildren include: Trish Combs and husband Tony, Michael Ashing and wife Amy, Jennifer Wright and husband Lloyd, Allie Fine, Mikayla Ott, Braxton Shipman, and Madison, Cody and Mason Shipman. His family blessed him with 14 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and step-father, Curtis Wittman, his son Ronnie Shipman, two of his sisters, Douglas Winters and Betty Thomas.
A memorial service will be held Thursday May 22, at 2:00 pm at the Schulter Christian Assembly of God--
