Funeral services for Mrs. Sarah Ruth Simms Harmon, age 80, were held at 2:00 P.M. Monday, December 28, 2009 at the Old Shongaloo United Methodist Church, where she was a member, with Rev. Dave Sheehan officiating. Burial followed in the Old Shongaloo Cemetery under the direction of Bailey Mortuary, Springhill.
Mrs. Harmon, a native and lifelong resident of this area, died Friday, December 25, 2009 in Homer, LA.
She was a homemaker, a loving wife, mother and grandmother.
She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star Shongaloo Chapter #177. Mrs. Harmon was an avid bird watcher, especially hummingbirds. She is preceded in death by her husband, Edd Craft in 1974; by her parents, Albyron P. and Anna Dee Wingfield Simms; brothers, William P. "Bill" Simms, Lucious Simms and Sidney Brittian Simms.
She is survived by her husband, of 21 years, Robert Charles Harmon, of Shongaloo; step-daughter, Tracy George and husband, James, of Overton, TX; Sister, Lecy Wynne of Odessa, FL; sisters-in-law, Lilla Simms and Idelle Simms both of Shongaloo, LA; step-granddaughter, Jennifer George and a host of loving nieces and nephews.
Serving as pallbearers were Sidney Simms, Bill Simms, Tony Simms, Dennis Wynne, Joel Wynne, Daniel Thomas, Mark Wynne and Jeffery Wynne.
