LaVerne "Hoot" Homer, 71, of Springfield died Monday, April 5, 1999, at Walnut Ridge Healthcare Center.
He was born April 30, 1927, in Springfield, the son of John A. and Myrtle Hann Homer.
He married Esther Edwards in 1948 in Springfield.
Mr. Homer was employed with Allis-Chalmers for 27 years, JC Penney Company for 16 years, First of America Bank for four years and was former owner of Rochester Disposal.
He was a lifelong resident of Springfield, past president of Greater Springfield Bowling Association and a U.S. Navy veteran, serving in World War II.
Survivors: wife, Esther; four sons; two daughters; 16 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; three sisters, Ruth Green, Norma Creviston and Mrs. Larry (Doris) Benson, all of Springfield; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Services: 1 p.m. Friday, Vancil Memorial Funeral Chapel, the Rev. Aaron N. Homer officiating.
Burial: Roselawn Memorial Park Cemetery.
