Sarah Elizabeth Hatcher Palmer was married to James Robert Palmer. They had 7 children between the years of 1874 and 1886 consisting of one daughter, Gertrude and 6 boys, Clifford, Lewis, Jonathan, Robert, Grover, and Percy. All children grew to adulthood although she was not living there 3 years after her last son was born. She was admitted to the Georgia Sate Mental Hospital in 1889 and remained there for the next 38 years until her death in 1927. On November 22 of that year, she was found dead in her bed in the early hours of the morning after retiring in her usual health.
