The funeral for Elsie Hanson, 93, of Devils Lake, ND formerly of Sheyenne, ND was held on 12 Mar 2016 at First Lutheran Church in Sheyenne. She died on 9 Mar 2016 at Mercy Hospital in Devils Lake.
Rev. Natasha Woitzel-Kolles officiated. Music was by Mary Ellen Rue, organist. Tara Rieger was reader. Casket bearers were Lonny and Craig Djoseland, Corey Olson, Chad and Dusty Mangin, Keith and Jason Hanson and Tara Rieger. Honorary bearers were all of her family and friends. Interment was in Riverside Cemetery, Sheyenne. The Evans Funeral Home of New Rockford, ND was in charge of arrangements.

She attended country school in Bush township and high school in New Rockford. On 9 Nov 1941 she married Vernon C. Hanson at St. Olaf Lutheran Church in Devils Lake.They lived in Oklahoma City, OK while he was in the Army and then they bought a farm near Sheyenne. He died on 4 Aug 1988. Six years later she moved to Devils Lake.
Survivors include daughter, Karen Meier, Connie (Jim) Ortner, Yvonne (Lee) Olson and Verna (Dan) Mangin. She was preceded in death by her husband, Vernon, sons Dennis and Stan. Siblings: Bill, Clair, Reese, Edwin, Jack, Fred, Delta, Shirley and Jessie Cudworth. Great-grandson, Brady and a great granddaughter, Josie and a son-in-law Bob Meier.
