Our Mama, Joy B. Childress, age 80, born March 17, 1935 to Harry C. and Lucille Rapp Bill, resident of Loxley, AL passed away Tuesday, March 8, 2016. Mrs. Childress was a dairy farmer and owner of Farm Fresh Meats and was the 1965 Dairywomen of The Year. She was a hard working, truly loving southern lady. Mrs. Childress was preceded in death by her husband, Paul A. Childress, Jr. and grandson, Chad Childress. She is survived by six children: Paul A. (Brenda) Childress, III, Kay (Mike) Wagner, Harry B. (Sharon) Childress, Charles A. “Chuck” Childress, Holly (Mark) Crawford, Troy D. (Jennifer) Childress; 18 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Friday, March 11, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. from the chapel of Mack Funeral Home with Rev. Dick Brooks officiating. Burial will be in the Greenwood Cemetery, Loxley, AL. A visitation will be held Thursday from 6-8 p.m. at Mack Funeral Home. Pallbearers are Paul Childress, IV, Zach Crawford, Cody Crawford, Matt Childress, Chase Childress, L. Harry Childress, Michael Wagner, Jr., T.J. Childress with honorary pallbearers as Paul Childress, III, Harry Childress, Chuck Childress, Troy Childress, Mike Wagner, Mark Crawford, Gary Zylstra, Mike Bill and Alan Bill. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Covenant Hospice, 1040 Stanton Road, Suite D, Daphne, AL 36526. A special thank you to the staff of Covenant Hospice.
