Josiah Beckely was born about 1725 in Wethersfield, Hartford County, CT to Joseph and Mary Judd Beckely. He served as a soldier in the French & Indian Wars. He married Anna Hart (1724-1800) about 1753 and they had two (known) children, One daughter, Chloe Beckely(1756-1818) married Gideon Cole (1751-1826), a Revolutionary War soldier who lived in Kensington, CT, a stone's throw from Berlin. Gideon and Chloe Beckely Cole moved to Prattsburgh, NY and died there. Josiah Beckely died in 1757 and was buried in Beckely Cemetery, Berlin, CT. His wife Anna remarried and died about 43 years later (1800) and she is buried in Maple Cemetery in Berlin, CT.
