Son of Alex and Nancy Mills
Many people mistakenly have Joseph A. Bethel as the father of Howard Mills and his two sisters Nettie Mills Turney and Minnie Mills Casey. All of these children were born before Joseph Bethel married their mother Nancy Mills in April of 1899. Joseph Bethel was married to Sarah Ann Daniel before he married Nancy Mills and had several daughters with her. Howard Mills was born in 1880 almost 20 years before Joseph Bethel married his mother. I don't know at this point the identity of the Alex Mills listed as the father of Howard Mills on his death certificate. But it clearly wasn't Joseph A. Bethel.
