Kathryn Arlene Butler, 85, of Albion, passed away on Tuesday, March 8, 2016 at the Iowa River Hospice Home in Marshalltown.
Kathryn Beaty was born on September 2, 1930 in Melrose, Iowa to Lloyd and Marguerite Brown Beaty. Kathryn graduated from Marshalltown High School in 1947.
On January 7, 1949, Kathryn was united in marriage to Charles Butler and they had resided in Marshalltown.
Kathryn had previously been a custodian for Williams, Woodbury and Hoglan Schools before her retirement.
Kathryn was a member of the Elim Lutheran Church as well as the “Sharon Avenue Gang”. She enjoyed bowling, quilting, word puzzles and watching TV, especially “Perry Mason” and “Wheel of Fortune”. Kathryn was also an avid sports fan, especially watching Iowa Hawkeye Basketball as well as the Chicago Bulls and St Louis Cardinal baseball games. Above everything else; Kathryn loved the time she devoted to her grandchildren.
Kathryn is survived by her children: Nancy Butler of Des Moines, Dan (Vicki) Butler of Albion and Douglas (Claudia) Butler of State Center. Grandchildren: Jason Butler, Jodi (Dustin) Brown, Jenna (Scott) Juchems, Timothy (Chris) Butler, Micki Butler, Matt (Jenny) Butler, Sarah Butler and 4 great grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother Sam (Jerry) Beaty of Creston.
Kathryn is preceded in death by her husband Charles whom passed in 1991, her parents Lloyd and Marguerite, daughter Vickie Butler and two sisters and one brother.
Funeral services for Kathryn will be held on Saturday, March 12, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. at Elim Lutheran Church in Marshalltown. Visitation will be on Friday, March 11, 2016 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home in Marshalltown.
Memorials may be directed to the family for designation at a later time.
