HOFFMAN ESTATES - Janet M. Gibbons (nee McGuire), 87, longtime resident of Hoffman Estates passed away March 3, 2016. Funeral Services will be held Saturday, March 12, beginning with prayers at 10:15am at Michaels Funeral Home & Cremation Care, 800 S. Roselle Road, Schaumburg proceeding to 11:00am funeral mass at St. Hubert Catholic Church, 729 Grand Canyon St., Hoffman Estates. Interment will follow at St. Michael the Archangel Cemetery, Palatine. Visitation will be held Friday, March 11 from 3:00-9:00pm at the funeral home. Born January 12, 1929 in Hoopeston, IL, the daughter of Rodney and Beatrice (nee Hoffman). Graduate of Amundsen High School, class of 1946. She married Francis "Red" Gibbons on January 22, 1949; they celebrated more than 60 years together and he predeceased her on October 5, 2009. Janet and Red were founding members of St. Hubert's Parish in Hoffman Estates. All six of their children attended elementary school there and they were active members in the parish for years. Janet and Red were original homeowners in Hoffman Estates and part of the founders of the 4th of July celebration. Janet was famous for her legendary 4th of July parties and loved spending time at her home on Jordan Lake, Wisconsin. She was a great Mom, with a heart so big there was always room for more. Her friends were like sisters and her sister a best friend. Janet was loving mother to Linda Perkins (Rick Price), Marilyn (Ed) Wells, Michael (Dianna Wolski), Kathy (Rich) Braband, Tom (Cindy Scholl) and Colleen. She was proud grandmother of Linda (Doug) Fournier, Amy Crawford, Skip Perkins, Michael Gibbons, Matthew Gibbons, Katie (Shawn) Clouse, A.J., Evan and Rorie Braband and Patrick Gibbons. Janet was cherished great-grandmother to Reid and Chase Fournier, Noelle Gibbons and Max Clouse.
