"William T. Brucker, Kentucky state golf champion in 1922 and 1923, died at 8:45 a.m. yesterday at Suburban Hospital.
Brucker, 81, formerly of 3311 Thrush Road, had been Louisville golf champion before winning the state titles.
In 1911, at age 16, he qualified for the Indianapolis 500 and drove with John Klein in the automobile race.
Brucker was a veteran of World War I, a member of the Kilwinning Masonic Lodge 506 and a retired purchasing agent of Colgate-Palmolive Co., and Kentucky Metals Co.
Survivors include a son, Walter T. Brucker of San Marino, Calif., and a grandchild.
The funeral will be at 10 a.m. tomorrow at Pearson's, 149 Breckinridge Lane, with burial in Cave Hill Cemetery.
The family will be at the funeral home from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. today."
