A daughter of the late John and Mary (Fountain) Crowley, Hazel was born in Belchertown, Massachusetts. She lived in Somers most of her life before moving to Stafford, where she lived since 1997. She was a member of St. Edward Church. Hazel was employed for the U.S. Postal Service at the Somers post office for close to 20 years before retiring. She was a talented artist in all mediums. She loved animals, especially her horses.
Besides her husband, she is survived by three children, Antonie Wilson and her husband, David, of Canton, Maine, Lexi Johnson and her husband, Brian, of Ellington, and Sandor Devecis, of East Hamton; two stepchildren, Jacquelyn Stevenson and her husband, Shep, of Somers, and Frederick C. Schneider, of Ellington; nine grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a son, Rudolph Devecis; five brothers; and three sisters.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, March 9, from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at Somers Funeral Home, 354 Main St., Somers, followed by an 11 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at All Saints Church in Somersville. Burial will follow at Somers Center Cemetery.
