Florence Newbill Tompkins, age 99, passed away March 6, 2016, in the Riverside Health and Rehab Center. She was born on May 24, 1916, in Scottsburg, daughter of Herbert Pryor Newbill and Etta Hester Snead Newbill. She was a graduate of Scottsburg High School and a graduate of the Danville Memorial Hospital School of Nursing. She was a registered nurse until her retirement. She was a member of First Baptist Church. She was married to Joseph Richard Tompkins who predeceased her. She was also predeceased by a brother, and eight sisters. She is survived by a daughter, Florence Ann Grigg (Bill); a granddaughter; four great-grandchildren; a sister, Dorothy Watkins. Burial will be in Highland Burial Park.
