Sailed for foreign duty on 28 October 1918 on the U.S. Transport Mongolia. Part of the American Expeditionary Forces in France from 28 October 1918 to January 18, 1919. Received the Victory Medal with Clasp (France). Sailed for home from Brest, France on 4 January 1919, on the U.S.S. President Grant. Landed at New York, New York on 18 January 1919. Received a Very Good character of discharge from Camp Henry Knox in Kentucky on 20 February 1919 at the rank of Musician First Class.
