Abbott, Covington C. - Company I - enlisted 5 Nov 1861 Wyoming Co. WV - 6’0” tall, dark complexion, blue eyes, dark hair - born about 1821 Monroe Co. VA son of Wilson and Mary Keatley Abbott - died 25 Jan 1862 Buffalo VA - married #1 Martha J. Carnifax 5 Aug 1851, she died 20 Jun 1852, married #2 Mary C. Sheaver 27 Nov 1854 - Children: William Wilson born 24 May 1852 and Martha Jane 9 Oct 1855



Private Abbott died from pneumonia and typhoid fever while serving in the Civil War for the WV 7th Cavalry at Camp Buffalo Putnam County VA which is now WV. He is buried on the grounds of the old Civil War Camp.
