Rebecca Juanita Mauldin was born April 18, 1931 to Oscar and Ruth Followwill in Norman, Oklahoma. Rebecca died on March 7, 2016. She was 84 years old.

She lived in Norman most of her life and graduated from Norman High School in 1948. She had 10 brothers and sisters.

Rebecca married Burdett Carpenter on February 24, 1949. They had 3 children, David, Kevin and Burnadett. There are 9 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.

She raised her family with a firm hand and Christian values. Always set the example for her children to learn as they grew up. Rebecca also kept foster children for a few years while raising her own. She had plenty of love to offer these children. While raising her family, Rebecca could always be found crocheting, knitting or doing a number of craft projects. There wasn't much that she couldn't do when she put her mind to it. She worked at many places during her lifetime and retired from Radiology Associates of Oklahoma City.

Rebecca was a member of the Immanuel Baptist Church of Norman and raised her family with strong Christian values. She was very active in her church and could always be counted on to provide for the church. After her retirement, she went to Chile several times on mission trips with the church. Rebecca would come home with wonderful stories about her Chilean family.

After Burdett's death, Rebecca married Arthur Mauldin on October 18, 1990. They moved to Newcastle, Oklahoma for a few years so Art could keep his mules. They traveled to Colorado several times with mules on hunting and camping trips. She enjoyed those trips very much. And to everyone's surprise, she would ride the mules in the mountains with Art and their group.

She became Mom and Grandma to Art's children, 9 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. She loved them as much as she loved her own. Once again, setting the example with her love and Christian values.

With 10 brothers and sisters and 3 brothers and sisters-in-law, there were plenty of nieces and nephews and their children. "Aunt Becky" had plenty of love and advice for all. Her nieces and nephews will all have a favorite story or two about their "Aunt Becky". Rebecca could tell anyone who asked, who married who and the names of all of her great nieces and nephews. Favorite memories are of the whole family in her mother's little house on Ponca street, around the piano, singing favorite hymns.

She was preceeded in death by her mother and father, sisters Naomi, Nancy and Suzie, and her brothers, Debs, and Oscar. She also was preceded in death by her husbands, Burndett and Arthur and step-son Randy Mauldin.

She is survived by her brothers, Major Followwill of Frankston Texas, Robert Followwill of Norman, Joe Followwill of Norman and her sister Catherine of Norman, her children David Carpenter and his wife, Karine, of Rapid City, South Dakota, Kevin Carpenter, and his wife Kimberly, of Dibble, Oklahoma, Burnadett Brandt, and her husband Steve of Norman, Step-daughters Arthurita McFarland and Ray Schiska of Newcastle, Oklahoma, Karen Douglas and her husband Ronnie of Ohio, and Glenda Mauldin of Norman, 18 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren.

Fond memories, Love, Christian and family values will be how Rebecca/Mom/Grandma and "Aunt Becky" will be remembered.

Funeral Service will be at 1:00 p.m. Thursday March 10, 2016 at Primrose Funeral Service. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Park and Cemetery.
