Benjamin Edward Byrd, Jr., of Harrison, died Sunday, March 6, 2016. He was 61 years old.

Visitation will be Thursday, March 10 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Holt Memorial Chapel.

Funeral service is Friday, March 11 at 10:00 a.m. at Holt Memorial Chapel. Pastor Bob Brown will officiate. Burial will be at Western Grove Cemetery. Friends and family will serve as pallbearers.

The son of Benjamin Edward Byrd, Sr. and Missouria Louise (Ward) Byrd was born on June 3, 1954 at Pueblo, CO.

Benjamin was the owner and operator of Byrd’s Bark-n-style. In the 1970’s he was the animal trainer at Dogpatch USA. He loved flowers and singing hymns and gospel music. He was the type of man who never met a stranger. Benjamin retired after 14 years as the pastor at Olvey Christian Church and became a beloved member of the Olvey Bible Church.

One daughter, Laura Raver; one granddaughter, Emily Keener; one stepdaughter, Kami Fullerton; one stepson, Joshua Fullerton; and his parents preceded him in death.

Survivors include his wife of 14 years, Dana Byrd, of the home; two sons, Josh and Nicholas Fullerton, of the home; one daughter, Lacey Byrd, of Springfield, MO; one stepson and his wife, Nate and Heather Fullerton, of Tallassee, AL; three grandchildren, Brittany Nichols and husband, Michael, Samantha Heath, and Jenna Rose Metheney, all of Harrison; one great granddaughter, Alexandria Skye Metheney, of Harrison; two step grandchildren, Caleb and Kensley Fullerton, of Tallassee, AL; four sisters, Barbara Thompson, of Madison, WI, Emma Smith and husband, Carlton, of Colorado Springs, CO, Abby Potter and husband, Ed, of Madeira, Portugal, and Paula Fight and husband, Frank, of McComb, MS; his mother and father-in-law, Thomas and Lois Elliot, of Harrison; and several other family and friends.
