Barbara Watson Abernathy, 85, of Gainesville passed away February 14, 2016 following a brief illness.
Born in Hall County, on May 19, 1930, she was the daughter of the late Howlett and Laura Watson. Mrs. Abernathy lived in Florida a number of years until she took early retirement to spend time with her family her in north Georgia.
In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband, Herbert Abernathy, brother, Leon Watson; sister, Runnett Chandler; brother in law, William Ivy Capps, Sr.
Mrs. Abernathy is survived by her sister, Helen Juanita Capps; brother, Eugene (Carolyn) Watson; nieces, Elaine Joy, Vicky (David) Dixon, Lynn Chandler; nephews, Stanley (Elaine) Sexton, David Sexton, Danny (Karin) Sexton, Ivy (Jan) Capps, Jr., Craig (Kim) Watson, Scott (Karla) Chandler, Eric (Sandy) Watson, Ricky (Cathy) Watson.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 17, 2016 in the chapel of Little & Davenport Funeral Home. Rev. Dwight Joy will officiate. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.
