On July 4, 1993 he married Diane L. (Dorrier) Roupe. She preceded him in death on Nov. 24, 2010. Surviving are four children, Debra and Kenneth Lovely both of Wisconsin, Don Wentworth of New Millford, CT, Kimberly (Charles) Newman of Goshen; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; four step children, Anthony (Katrina) Christie, William (Diana) Christie, Tamara Waldridge, Angie Brugh (Greg) Hartman; numerous step grandchildren and step great grandchildren; a sister, Jackie Matthews and two brothers, Bert (Marty) Lovely and Jimmie (Sandy) Lovely. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Mona Peverall, Diane Gilford and three brothers, Milton, Eldin and Loristan.
Phil was a US Army veteran serving four tours in Vietnam. He was a member of the American Legion, enjoyed fishing painting ceramics and most of all working on cars. He was a well-known auto mechanic in Elkhart.
A celebration of life service for Phil was held on Saturday, March 12, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at the Walley-Mills-Zimmerman Funeral Home. Friends visited with the family for two hours prior to the service. Full military honors followed the service.
