MILFORD -- George L. "Butch" Perry Jr., 62, of Milford and formerly of Hopedale, died early Sunday, Sept. 24, at Milford Regional Medical Center after a lengthy illness.

He was the husband of Rosa K. (Swain) Perry for 38 years.

He was born in Milford, the son of the late George L. and Winifred (Richards) Perry and lived most of his life in Hopedale before moving to Milford seven years ago. He attended Hopedale public schools.

Mr. Perry was employed for many years as a sheet metal mechanic at the former Honeywell Corp. in Framingham and Data General in Southborough. He most recently owned and operated the former Michael's Coffee Shop on Main Street in Milford until 1998.



Mr. Perry was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Vietnam War.

He was an avid fisherman.

Besides his wife, he leaves two daughters, Michelle D. Johnson and her husband, William, of Franklin and Dannielle D. May of Blackstone; one brother, Arthur Perry of Worcester; two granddaughters, Nicole A. Perry of Needham and Naomi Johnson of Franklin; and several nieces and nephews.

He was also father of Michel D. Perry, who died in 1997, and the brother of Jacqueline Truman, who died in 2003.

A funeral service will be held Thursday, Sept. 28, at 10 a.m., at the Edwards Memorial Funeral Home, 44 Congress St., officiated by the Rev. Kevin Hartford, associate pastor of St. Mary of the Assumption Church.

Burial will follow in Hopedale Village Cemetery, Mendon Street, Rte. 16, in Hopedale.

Calling hours at the funeral home will be held Wednesday, Sept. 27, from 6 to 8 p.m.

Instead of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association, 20 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701-4688.
