Reva Mae Payne
January 1, 1934 - March 5, 2016

Reva was born on January 1, 1934 in Prairie Grove, Arkansas to George Harrison and Bertha Leach. She moved to Stillwell, OK as a child, where she graduated from high school in 1952. She then attended West Texas A&M, where she graduated with her Bachelor’s Degree in General Studies in May of 1991 before obtaining her certificate in social work. Reva worked as a social worker for the State of Texas for over 25 years, retiring in 1995. She devoted her life to taking care of others, serving as the president of the Ladies Auxiliary VFW Post 1475 and volunteering for the VA Hospital for many years where she was presented a VA Service Award. She was also a dedicated member of the Red Hats.

She married Aubrey Dean “A.D.” Payne on August 30, 1996. Together, they traveled to VFW posts abroad to campaign for A.D. He preceded her in death on May 24, 2013. In her free time, Reva enjoyed reading and gardening.

She is survived by her son, Johnny Ray Etheridge of Amarillo; 2 daughters, Louanne Etheridge of Amarillo and Patricia Gail Copeland and husband Jacob of Corpus Cristi; 6 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; sister, Frances Brown of Oklahoma City and George Harrison Leach III and his wife Nadine of Boise City, OK.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband A.D. Payne and 2 daughter-in-laws, Debra Etheridge and Sherrie McGlaughlin.
