According to this contributor's mother who is a granddaughter of Daniel B. Payne (Earnest's father):
"Uncle Bolton (Earnest's brother) said where Earnest is buried is located near the church but out in the woods, going down beside the original Liberty Church meeting house (destroyed by the tornado of April 27 2011). There is an old road bed there, but he (Uncle Bolton)was unable to find the grave again when he went to locate it again for marking. (it is not inside Liberty's current cemetery.)

A cenotaph was placed in the current cemetery November 17 2016 by his great niece, J. A. Mills, with the help of Paul RouLaine, Jim & Betty Crowder, Amy Smithson and David RouLaine. Without these wonderful friends, Earnest's resting place would be lost to history.

The marker is placed in memory between the graves of Jeremiah & Elizer Lina Seale and Jessie and Kizzie Seale.
