Born Joseph Komins on April 24, 1904 in Wilmington, Delaware, he was the son of Herman Komins and Ida Newman. He was a stuntman and actor in over 61 films and TV shows(mostly uncredited) from 1936 until 1968. Among his film appearances were “Where the West Begins”(1938), “Overland Mail”(1939), “The Talk of the Town”(1942), “Bullets and Saddles”(1943), “Around the World in Eighty Days”(1956), and “Vertigo”(1958). He also appeared in the Three Stooges shorts,“What’s the Matador?”(1942) as man in the audience, "Even As IOU"(1942) as vet's assistant, "Matriphony"(1942) as guard, "Higher Than a Kite"(1943) as Nazi soldier, "Phony Express"(1943) as henchman, “The Three Troubledoers”(1946) as a bartender,”Three Little Pirates”(1946) as “Red Dog”, and “Squareheads of the Round Table"(1948) as a headsman. Among his TV appearances were: “Bonanza”(1963), “Gunsmoke”(1965), “Honey West”(1965), “The Big Valley”(1965-66), and “The Girl From U.N.C.L.E.”(1966). Joe Garcio died April 11, 1982 at the Motion Picture Home and Hospital in Woodland Hills, CA. He was buried April 14,1982 in Valhalla Memorial Park in North Hollywood, California.
