With so much sorrow, we announce that Delbert Staten has passed into heaven. He was such an amazing husband, a loving father & grandfather, a good brother, uncle and friend. He died after a long struggle with Parkinson’s disease on March 3, 2016.

He was born on June 17th 1934, the second of three sons of Muzzetta Mecham, the second of two sons from Richard Stanley Staten. He married the love of his life, Carrol Adell Gordon on Sept 9th 1950, and was subsequently sealed to her for all eternity in the Salt Lake Temple on Sept 9th, 1959.

Delbert is survived by his wife, Carrol and his 6 children; Larry Staten, Randy Staten & his wife Sheri, Debra Hampton & her husband Richard, Ron & his wife Barbara, Wendy & her husband Dale, Ryan & his wife Chris.

Delbert is preceded in death by both of his parents; Muzzetta Mecham and Richard Stanley Staten and by his younger brother, Michael Peterson.

Delbert was a car mechanic with magic fingers, he could fix anything. He drove a 1968 Chev 1/2 ton pickup for at least 20 years, always maintaining it in pristine condition. Delbert was a builder, after remodeling his first house to twice its original size, he built his own house, with his own hands. Delbert was an outdoorsman who loved to fish and hunt with his family, he always seemed to be in the right place to bring home game. Delbert loved to ride dirt motorcycles, culminating in participation in the Bees Motorcycle Club, tri-level cross-country; Novice, Amateur & Expert race out by the Manning race track. Delbert and Carrol also loved to travel, from visiting all of the neighboring states, to Hawaii and to Europe and Germany. Delbert also loved God, rising in priesthood to a High Priest status, he was proud to have baptized all of his children and given each child his confirmation blessing.

We would like to thank all those who helped Delbert in his final days, including Inspiration Hospice.
