He married the love of his life, Peggy Ann Prather, on June 6, 1976. They have experienced a lot together as best friends; yet, maintained a love that only a few wished they had. Together they raised seven children. He was employed at Brown Shoe for 23 years. He has also worked at CMC Solution of Monogram. He was currently employed at FCA in Corinth, MS. Roy's hobbies included hunting, riding horses, an expert pool player, fishing, playing dominoes and spending time with family and friends.
He was proceeded in death by his father, R.L Burns; three uncles, Arthur Lee and James Lee Sanders and John Robert Burns; one aunt, Louella Sanders; one great grandson, Traymon Burns; and Grandmother, Betty Lou Wade.
Left to cherish his memories, his wife Peggy; seven children, Taruas "Wee Wee" (Pam) Davis, Valarie Trice, Latosha Burns, Deon Trice, Tricia Burns, Roy "Catfish" Burns, Jr, and Klisha Burns; three siblings, Paula Burns, Christopher Davis, and Ramona Gee; a father in law, James Prather. He has sixteen grandchildren and four great grandchildren, and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and family.
Services were held Saturday, March 5, 2016 at Freedom Fellowship Church in Corinth, MS with burial following at the Adams Chapel Cemetery in Guys, TN. Hardeman County Funeral Services were in charge of the arrangements.
