Dee Cole, 63, died at 10:55 p.m. Tuesday in a Dallas hospital following a lengthy illness.

The father of James D. Cole, state representative and administrator for the House of Representatives, he was the founder and president of the Hopkins County Telephone Co., the founder of the Quinlan Telephone Co. that covers Quinlan, Cash, Lone Oak, Emory, Alba and Shirley, a director of the Texas Telephone Association and past president of the Independent Pioneer Telephone Association.

He was a 32nd degree Mason, a Shriner, a past member of the Greenville City Council and a past president of the Greenville Lions Club.

He was a member and past chairman of the Board of Stewards of Kavanaugh Methodist Church and a member of the Board of Trustees of Kavanaugh Methodist Church.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. today at Kavanaugh United Methodist Church with Rev. Don Shaw, Rev. Gordon Casad and Rev. Bill Morgan Smith officiating. Burial will be in Forest Park Cemetery under direction of Coker-Mathews-Peters Funeral Home and Masonic graveside services will be held.

The body will remain at the funeral home until about an hour before the services when it will be moved to the church.

Mr. Cole was born on July 15, 1910 in Yantis, the son of Thomas and Ethel Green Cole. On July 28, 1930 in Dallas he married Evelyn Robbins. [continued to page 2]

Surviving in addition to his wife, are two sons, James D. Cole of Greenville and Austin and Tom Cole of Point; one brother, George T. Cole of Dallas; one half-brother, Oscar Cole of Dallas; one half-sister, Mrs. Ollie Trayler of Ashdown, Ark.; and two granddaughters, Kathy and Marcheta of Orlando, Fla.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Marshall and Ira Cole, and a sister, Mrs. Dessie Mae Wells.

Pallbearers will be nephews of Mr. Cole: Earl Thomas, Kenneth Thomas, Walter Thomas, Charles Cole, Ronnie Cole and Joe Pat Jordan.
