TATE, Richard Carl "Rick" 58, born to Pauline and the late Carl Tate, passed away Feb. 28, 2016. He has two older brothers, Randy and the late Jeffrey; and a younger sister, Sue. They grew up in Troy, OH. Rick gave his life to the Lord at an early age. He had a happy childhood and loved to make people laugh. After graduating from Troy High School he attended The Culinary Institute in New York. He was so proud to open his two restaurants in Dayton, OH, called Subs n Clubs. In 1984, he met the love of his life, Suzanne Gray and soon began a new career in child nutrition. He dedicated 28 years to Dayton Public and Lakota Local School Districts. Rick's greatest joy in life was his wife and two children, Liz and Nick. His life was dedicated to all of them. He unselfishly provided his children with a wonderful quality of life, which included a strong spiritual upbringing. Rick loved to travel and spent his 30th anniversary on a Mediterranean Cruise with Suzanne. He battled with chronic epilepsy that was a constant burden for him. He persevered through two brain surgeries with the support of his family. Rick is loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew him. He is survived by his wife, Suzanne; children, Liz Galluzzi and Nick Tate. The family will receive friends Thursday, March 3, 4-6 pm, at Blount & Curry Funeral Home, 3207 W. Bearss Ave., Tampa, with a funeral service Friday, March 4, 10 am. Burial at Garden of Memories, Tampa.
