Ella Marie Head Fields
Marie Fields, 91, of Rogersville, Beech Creek Community, passed away on Thursday, March 3, 2016 at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center following a lengthy illness.
She was born in Hawkins County and was a lifelong resident. She was a homemaker and member of Mt. Carmel Freewill Baptist Church. Marie was very devoted to her family and enjoyed cooking for her large family and for anyone who would stop by, who was always fed and made to feel welcome.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ira C. “Tide” Fields; daughter-in-law, Sharon Fields; 2 sisters, Julia and Ruby Head; 3 brothers, Willard, Cecil and Kedrick; and granddaughter, Becky Davenport.
Marie is survived by daughter, Kathy Fields of Kingsport; 4 sons, Eugene Fields of Rogersville, Clifford Fields of Kingsport, Dennis Fields and wife, Cindy of Fall Branch, and Michael Fields and wife, Tami of Fall Branch; 6 grandchildren, Tonya Fields, Shirley Moody and husband, Brian, Glenda Kirk and husband, Adam, John Fields and wife, Holly, Tina Hill and Josh Fields; 17 great-grandchildren; 2 sisters, Rosie Caldwell of Greeneville, and Bonnie DeSaultes of Los Angeles, CA; 2 brothers, Verlin Head of Rockford, IL, and Kelly Head of Jonesborough; and several nieces and nephews.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to ETSU Family Physicians, the staff on W-3 at Wellmont Hospital and Jennifer McKeown and staff of Signature Healthcare, Rogersville, TN.
The family will receive friends on Saturday from 5-7:00 pm at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Fall Branch. The funeral service will follow at 7:00 pm with Rev. Greg Graybeal officiating.
The graveside service will be held on Sunday at 2:00 pm at Mt. Carmel Freewill Baptist Church Cemetery.
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
