He was born in Statesville, NC, son of the late Wille C. and Bessie (Garner) Chambers, a graduate of the old William Penn High School, retired from the City of Harrisburg, a member of Goodwin Memorial Baptist Church where he served with the Trustee, Usher, and Transportation Ministries. The church was his life and he loved gospel music.
Tom was a jokester and in his leisure, he enjoyed going to the gym and watching TV Ministries and western movies.
He was the widower of Aileen Beasley Chambers and leaves to celebrate his life, his son, Albert E. "Choo Choo" Chambers, Jr. (Sherry); his daughters, LaShella "Shelly" Chambers Johnson and Deborah "Debbie" Chambers Griffin (William); his sisters, Maggie Burnette (Leo "Syke"), Laura "Sis" Vennie and Josephine Davis, all of Harrisburg; his grandchildren, Angela, William "Billy", Anbria, Trenton, Daisha, Fashia and Shanyce; his great grandson, Jalyn and Jani and a host of other relatives and friends.
Tom's life will be celebrated on Tuesday, November 24 at 12 Noon in the Sanctuary of his church, 2447 Green St., with viewing 11 a.m. until Noon and burial in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens.
