Mary was the daughter of Christiana Flinn, of Scottish descent and born and married in Onasbruck, Canada, before emigrating to the U.S., and of Robert Bradshaw. Her grandfather was a United Empire Loyalist. She married David Currier and together they raised four sons and a daughter.
Censuses from 1850 and 1860 record the family living in New York. There Mary's mother, Christiana, passed away. Her father, Robert, accompanied the Curriers to Illinois, where he later died and was buried in the same cemetery as his daughter, Mary.
Mary's sister, Hester, married the father of First Lady McKinley. Mary's granddaughter, Corolyn Tanner Bailey Mumford, married J.K. Mumford who was co-author of a biography about President McKinley.
