A son of the late Jessie and Ora Lute Strickland, he was employed with The Kroger Company for 35 years and retired in 1995. He was preceded in death by his wife, Annette Garrett Terrill Strickland, daughter, Julie Ann Strickland, brothers, Aaron Strickland, Everett Strickland, Herb Strickland, sisters, Freda Massey, Reva Ross, brothers, Burlin Strickland, Gerald Strickland, and Roger Strickland.

Herman is survived by his daughter, Glenda Hamilton; son, Ronald Strickland; step-daughter, Kimberly Neal; three step -sons, Timothy Terrill, Jeffery Terrill, Richard Terrill; 13 grandchildren; 6 great grandson; and sister, June McClury.

Funeral services are 11:00 am Monday March 7, 2016 and burial will be in Woodhill Cemetery.
