MRS. ALFORD RITES TO BE HELD TODAY
Funeral services for Mrs Lovie R. Alford, 86, of 2411 Darien St., who died at 4:15 p.m. Monday in Willis-Knighton Hospital following a lengthy illness will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday in Wellman's Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. W. T. Furr, pastor of Queensborough Baptist Church, will officiate with burial to follow in the Plain Dealing Cemetery in Plain Dealing.
Mrs. Alford was a native of Cuero, Texas and had lived in Shreveport since 1961. She is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Gladys Nix of Shreveport, Mrs. Doyle Hooper of Lewisville, Ark., and Mrs. Lena Mahr of Long Beach, Calif.; one son, Joe Alford of Shreveport; one sister, Mrs. Lou Mills, Corpus Christi, Tex.; 12 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
