Kurt Arthur Benno Student war ein deutscher Offizier, zuletzt Generaloberst der Luftwaffe im Zweiten Weltkrieg, und höchstrangiger General der Fallschirmtruppe der Wehrmacht.

Kurt Student (12 May 1890 – 1 July 1978) was a German Luftwaffe general who fought as a fighter pilot during the First World War and as the commander of German paratroopers during the Second World War.

German Luftwaffe General. He was one of the most brilliant German general during the Second World War, and along with Heinz Guderian shared the role of the great innovator of the techniques and strategies of combat. He also is known as the creator of the paratroopers and airborne troops. Student began his military career at the young age of eleven at the Prussian royal military school in Potsdam. At the outbreak of the World War I, he joined to one of the first unit of the newly formed Imperial military aviation. In 1916, he took command of a fighter squadron, but during an aerial duel was seriously injured. At the end of the war, he was discharged with the rank of Hauptmann (captain), and was assigned to the command of the Fliegerzentrale, a school of gliding that was to serve as a surrogate to allow the training of military pilots in spite of the treaties imposed by the Treaty of Versailles. When at the beginning of 1938, he was given the command of the 7th Airborne Division undergoing training in Münster, Student had already clear the role that his men would take in the upcoming conflict. At the end of the same year, he was appointed inspector of airborne forces and could count not only on 7th Airborne Division of the Luftwaffe but also on 22nd Air Landing Division of the army.
