Sadie graduated from Saint Anthony High School, and then shortly after moved to Fort Collins, Colorado to marry her true love, Harold Joseph Ard, on October 15, 1948. They were later sealed in the Salt Lake Temple.
Sadie and Harold moved to Brighton, Colorado, and became active in raising a family, service to the community, and supporting the growth of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Brighton.
Sadie learned a strong work ethic from her parents and excelled in many different fields. She was asked to learn computer science and establish the Adams County Data Processing team that she supervised for many years. Later, she served as Deputy Treasure and then Treasurer of Adams County. Sadie also worked for Brighton Federal Savings and Loan, First Federal Savings, and Commercial Bank as a Branch Manager, and was also a Bank President for Houshold Bank.
Sadie loved to teach the gospel. In the Brighton Branch, and later Brighton Ward of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, she held numerous callings. Among some of those were numerous leadership and teaching positions in Sunday School, Relief Society, Primary, and early morning Seminary. She served with her husband Harold in the Denver temple for 25 years, including serving as a temple matron.
Being a mother and grandmother were the roles she loved the most, as a plaque in her home highlighted, “My greatest blessings call me Mom.”
