Johnnie Ralph Woody, of Vienna, age 74, departed this life on Tuesday, March 1, 2016, in the Barnes-Jewish Hospital, St. Louis. Johnnie was born on October 1, 1941, near Meta, in Maries County, a son of Oscar Clifton and Gladys Beryl (Roberds) Woody.

Johnnie was united in marriage on November 7, 1959, at Vienna, to Kay Leona Terry, and to this union, two daughters were born.

He was preceded in death by one daughter, Diane Rachel Boyster, on August 22, 1998; one granddaughter, Megan Rachel Sommer, on August 22, 1998; his father, Oscar, on August 19, 1996; his mother, Gladys, on April 29, 1990; two brothers, Donald Woody at the age of 2 years on February 9, 1937, and Meryl Woody on September 5, 1991.

Johnnie accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as his personal savior and followed him in baptism early in life, and at the time of his passing, was a member of the First Baptist Church, Vienna. Johnnie was also a member of the Carpenters Union District Council of St. Louis and Vicinity, St. Louis and Kansas City, being a 35 year member. During his life, he had been a member of the Vienna Masonic Lodge No. 94 A.F. & A.M.; the Vienna Eagles Club; and several Bass Fishing Clubs placing high in many tournaments. Johnnie especially enjoyed teaching his grandsons the skills involved in fishing, and he had a strong passion for NASCAR, the St. Louis Cardinals, Mizzou sports, and college basketball.

Those left to mourn the passing of Johnnie include: His wife, Kay Woody, of the home near Vienna; one daughter, Karen Woody, Vienna; two grandsons, Dustin Boyster and Natasha, Vienna, and Matthew and Catrina Woody, Chillicothe; two great-grandchildren, Brennen Prenger and Kylie Holt; one sister, Elaine and Johnny Doyle, Jefferson City; and a host of other relatives and friends. Visitation will be held for Johnnie from 5 - 7 p.m., Friday, March 4, 2016, and from 10 - 11 a.m., Saturday, March 5, 2016, all in the First Baptist Church, 1004 Highway 63 South, Vienna.

The funeral service will follow at 11 a.m., Saturday, March 5, 2016, also in the First Baptist Church, Vienna, with the Rev. Mike Hurtgen and Mr. Earl Hall officiating. Interment will be in the Vienna Public Cemetery, near his daughter and granddaughter, under the direction of the Vienna Chapel of the Birmingham-Martin Funeral Homes.
