Black comedian who was known for the skit, "Hello Mister President" which was an imaginary conversation with President Franklin Delano Roosevelt. He performed the skit with Duke Ellington's satirical revue, JUMP FOR JOY. Portions of the routine can be seen in the film TOP SERGEANT MULLIGAN (1941). Smith performed on Red Skelton's radio show in the 1940's, then went on to appear on television shows such as THE BOLD ONES and THE NEW DOCTORS. He had a cameo as a stage hand in the film THIS IS SPINAL TAP (1984).
