Joyce Marie Martin, 91, of Palestine went to her heavenly home for a reunion with her husband, son and a host of family and friends.
She was born in Electra, Texas and was the ninth of fifteen children born to Lula Frances Kidd and General Clarence Martin.
She moved to Palestine as a teenager with her family. On December 5, 1942 she married the love of her life, J.L. Gregory. In 1946, after his service in the U.S. Navy in Corpus Christi, they relocated to Palestine to rear their family. They enjoyed family and friend time fishing, camping and watching nature. She was a homemaker and enjoyed tending her flowers. She was a long time member of Lone Pine Baptist Church.
Joyce was preceded in death by her husband of 68 years, J.L. Gregory, Sr. (2011); son J.L. "Sonny" Gregory Jr. (1969); her parents and twelve siblings.
Survivors include her daughter, Sharon Gregory McKenzie-Roberts and husband Glenn; grandsons, Craig McKenzie and wife Lori, Bryce McKenzie and wife Tanya Solis-McKenzie; great grandchildren, Chelsi West and husband Jason, Cade McKenzie, Amber McKenzie, Ella McKenzie and Clara McKenzie; sister, Irene Martin Wilson of Palestine and brother, Harold Lloyd Martin of San Antonio; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
