She married on 9 May 1897, in Lincoln County, Kansas Christian N. Schroeder. (1857-1928). At the time of their marriage Christian was considerably older the Florence; he was 40 years old and she was just 17 years old. In order to get married they had to record her parents’ permission for the marriage with the local court. They lived in Pawnee County, Nebraska was Christian worked as a farm hand until renting a farm in 1900, at Concord in Ottawa County, Kansas. By 1915, they were living apart at times. Florence and her children were eventually abandoned by her husband by 1920, and she was supporting her several children by taking in laundry. Christian died in 1928, having never divorced Florence.
She and Christian were the parents of the following 12 children:

In the late 1930s, Florence left Kansas moved west and was living with her son Adolph at Noti in Lane County, Oregon. In the early 1940s, she was briefly married to George Seigel, but this union ended in divorce. Her son Frederick moved to Oregon in 1946, and she lived with him at Carlton in Yamhill County until her death in 1948. She is buried in the Evergreen Memorial Park at McMinnville in Yamhill County, Oregon.
