A native of Osage County, Carol D. Shoup was born August 15, 1932 in Hominy. She was the daughter of the late Orville L. Shoup and Tabitha (McCready) Shoup. She was reared in Hominy and completed her education there. She was a member of the graduating Senior Class of 1950 from Hominy High School. She and Kenneth C. Byers were united in marriage on February 18, 1951 at Huntsville, Arkansas. They established their home in the Bartlesville/ Dewey communities in 1957. They opened Ken's Color TV in Dewey in October of 1961 and later moved their business to Bartlesville. Carol was co-owner with her husband and i8n 1977 became the owner of Mode-O-Day Dress Shop in which she remained active until 1987. They closed the business in November of 1999. Carol and Ken were founding members of Victory Christian Center, Bartlesville. Ken preceded her in death on July 31, 2003. Carol returned to Dewey to make her home there and owned the North Ross Courts. She was a blessing to many ministries and was loved by all that knew her.

In addition to her father, mother and husband, she was preceded in death by brother, David W. Shoup and half brothers, Thomas L. and William G. Shoup.
