Ricky Dale "Dinky" Dotson, 51, of McVeigh, KY, passed away with his family by his side at Pikeville Medical Center on Tuesday March 1, 2016.
He was born May 25, 1964, at South Williamson, KY, to Phyllis Sullivan Dotson of Pinsonfork, KY, and the late William Dewey Dotson. He is also preceded in death by paternal grandparents, Dewey and Hazel Dotson and his maternal grandparents, Walter and Opal Sullivan.
Ricky was a truck driver for almost all of his life and that is where his unique nickname came from. Most everyone in the trucking business in eastern Kentucky can recall Dinky. Through the easy and rough patches in his career, he always stayed passionate and proud of where he stood as a driver. He was of the Primitive Baptist Faith and a member of the Big Creek Primitive Baptist Church, being the place he called home. Ricky served the Lord with unconditional faith and love.
Besides his mother, Ricky is survived by his wife, Mary Ellen Dotson of McVeigh, KY. Two daughters, Savannah Tylin Dotson of Belfry, KY, and Kerigan Raine Dotson of Belfry, KY. Two brothers, Erik John (Samantha) Kenyon of Phelps, KY, and Joey Bradley Kenyon of Cross Lanes, WV. A special grandson, Noah William Kenyon and a special nephew, Gaige Andrew Davis, both of Phelps, KY. Ricky is also survived by his mother-in-law, Beatrice Thacker and three step children, Amanda, Johnathan and Nick West all of Canada, KY. Four special little girls, Breanna, Kyra, Maddison and Lindsey. A special aunt and uncle, John and Jane Bowersmith; special friends, Timmy Francis and Michael "Shaky" Rogers and a host of loving family and many friends.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1 PM Saturday March 5, 2016, at the Big Creek Primitive Church with Randal Thornsbury, David Allen Thacker and Others officiating. Burial will follow at Sullivan Cemetery, Pinsonfork, KY, with Mackey Francis, Gary Runyon, Wesley Maynard, John Bevins, Bruce Young Jr., Erik Kenyon, Joey Kenyon and Terry Kenyon serving as pallbearers.
Visitation will be after 6 PM Thursday and Friday night at the church with special services both nights at 7 PM.
Ricky will truly be missed and always remembered by his remarkable sense of humor and one of the greatest hearts on earth.
