Morris Glenn Chapman age 87 of Sturgis, Michigan passed away early Sunday morning December 30, 2012 at Thurston Woods Village in Sturgis. He was born January 1, 1925 in Sturgis, Michigan son of the late Jay D. and Daisy Chapman. Mr. Chapman resided most of his life in the Sturgis and Centreville area and also lived in Battle Creek. On September 29, 1946 he married Loa Jean Collins at the Sturgis Church of the Nazarene in Sturgis. He retired from the Kirsch Company in Sturgis following 32 years of dedicated employment. Following his retirement he was a truck driver for Scori Mold in Centreville for 15 years. He was a longtime active member of the Sturgis Church of the Nazarene. Morris was proud to have served his country during WWII in the U.S. Navy earning the rank of 3rd Class Gunner's Mate. He is survived by his loving and dedicated wife of 66 years, Loa Jean; three sons: Douglas Dean (Lila) Chapman of Middlebury, Indiana, Danny (Marsha) Chapman of Constantine and Donald (Pamela) Chapman of Centreville; eight grandchildren: Matthew (Beth), Melissa (Keith), Catrina Lynn, Crystal, Curtis (Erica), Brian (Angie), Elizabeth (Jay) and Kristopher; 22 great grandchildren; four great great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, one son: Dennis Chapman; grandson: Michael Chapman; one great granddaughter; four sisters and two brothers. The family will receive friends from 5:00-8:00 P.M. Tuesday at the Sturgis Church of the Nazarene, 70031 S. Lakeview St. in Sturgis. Funeral services celebrating the life of Morris Chapman will be held at 2:00 P.M. Wednesday at the church. The Rev. Bryan Balasa of the Crossroads Missionary Church of Mendon will officiate. A graveside committal will follow the service at Oak Lawn Cemetery in Sturgis where full military honors will be conferred by Captain John J. Kelley Post #1355 VFW and the U.S. Navy Honor Guard.
